Curly fur can cause lots of confusion on knowing where to start. Regardless of the medium, I always just try and focus more on the shapes initially that stand out more. I think it's easy to try and draw all the fur at the same layer but fur isn't ever naturally structured like that. Fur is a combination of layers from that which is touching the skin to potentially fur that is then sitting above layers or overlapping entirely. By trying to draw one layer at a time it does help to simplify the dra
